The Enneagram’s Instinctual Variant

Self-preservation subtype
The self-preservation subtype is an instinctual variant that is focused on basic survival requirements. This type is concerned with food, shelter as well as health and safety. They are also likely to be extremely concerned about food and physical comfort. This subtype is also likely to be concerned with the cleanliness and comfort in a room. They are typically the first to notice any issues in the room.
Self-preservation is a dominant instinctual drive. This instinctual drive could be seen as a threat and threat to security if it conflicts with other instinctual drives. This can lead to misperceptions about one’s nature and the need to seek counseling and therapy. The self-preservation subtype views that a partner is an essential element in maintaining security, which is why they experience anxiety if they fail to find one.
Instinctual types are able to display diverse behaviors. Self-defense can be described as aggression, vigilance and protectiveness. These actions are geared towards protecting self and the group. They are correlated with the achievement of group members and the hierarchies.
Social instinctual people are drawn to an identity and social standing. They are more likely to seek group membership if enjoyed a positive childhood. They are also more likely to consider charity. They can also become impatient with people who talk about the food or home decor.

Type Eight
Type Eight is an instinctual type that combines a love of life with the drive for material security. This type of personality is a strong one in protecting their family members and their friends. They are also fierce and decisive, sporting a huge energy and a huge appetite. They are unmistakable in their physical appearance and never hesitate to assert their authority. They are also hard-headed and practical, with an intense desire to be the most dominant among other people.
This instinctual version combines the passion of the Eight with the assertiveness of the sexual urge to create a wildly ambitious and charismatic personality. This makes it hard for an Eight to give up possessions. This instinct is also the reason they are prone to political activities. They are not as aggressive as other subtypes, however they are equally likely to oppose the leader of a group.
Another instinctual variant of the Type Eight is a self-pre/sexual Eight. They are driven to “hook” people and tend to be suspicious of others. This makes it difficult for them to control their urges, and can cause unhealthy relationships. Eights can become possessive, jealous, or addicted to their partners in these relationships. These behaviors can lead spousal abuse.
A Type Eight is more expressive and compassionate than a typical two in this instinctual variant. While the eight is still concerned about being loved and can express its love through caring for others, Tritype it also seeks love in the same way as an integrated two. This instinctual variant has a large heart and is determined to express love and show it by expressing love in tangible ways.
Type Five
Type Five is the opposite of Type Four and is extremely emotional. It tends to connect to its inner emotional world through expressive art, and communicates with others through thoughts. It also seeks out ultimate knowledge and truth. It also seeks meaning. This instinctual type is associated with particular subtypes of the Enneagram However, this stacking can also be used in isolation.
Type Eight is associated with the Passion of Lust. It is driven by the desire to live every moment to the fullest and will often use force to satisfy its dominant instinct desires. Self-centered Eights are typically excessive in their preoccupation with autonomy. This instinctive way of thinking can make you feel lonely and resentful.
Type Twos project their needs onto others. They are often looking for approval and love from other people. However, their desire for approval and love hinders them from developing deep relationships. They are a traditional provider but they are also very conscious of their appearance. As opposed to other subtypes of providers, they are less trusting and fearful.
The Sexual One’s instinct is to seek out a loved or a favorite. When they were children when they were told they were beautiful and desirable. Their parents encouraged them to believe that they could attract a beautiful partner. They believed that to attract a partner, one had to be physically and sexually active.
The self-pres/social stacking subtype resembles to the self-pres/self-pres subtype in many ways, including the necessity of maintaining a clean environment. They also try to find a mate and are concerned with their sexuality. They might have strong opinions about the political and Tritype test social spheres, or they might have conflicting alliances.
Type Six
Each type of Enneagram has an instinctual variation. Instinctual subtypes can be identified by the type’s driving emotional energy. They explain why individuals who belong to a type could be different. Each type is distinguished by three distinct variations in the way it is instinctual. Each subtype differs from the basic type in various ways.
The Type Six instinctual variant is characterised by intense self reflection. This type of instinct is strong and seeks security in relationships. They are drawn to the intimacy of close-knit friendships and value tradition and family. Though they can be self-contradictory, the subtype also brings faith and a strong capacity to believe in the existence of God.
The Intimate Six often conflicts with the Self-preservation Six. They are prone to jealousy, and have both female and male traits. Intimate Sixes may seek sexual partners of the opposite sex. They may also want to impress their partners by appearing confident and strong. They might even be focused on appearance.
The Sexual Six is perhaps the least observable of the Six subtypes, but it is also one of the most terrifying. These people are afflicted by the fear of being abandoned, and their fear of being rejected will make them build many relationships. While they show love, tenderness and peace, their inner feelings are driven by fear of losing their protection. The SP Six feels the need for “good” and also to not be a nuisance to others.
The Sexual Sixes are often against perceived danger. They may appear to be rebellious, risk-takers or troublemakers. They might even display hero-complexes.
Type Seven
Type Seven is an instinctual type that displays intense energy, extreme behavior, and material success. The self-pres instinct of this subtype is the final one which makes them successful, but also impulsive and dependent. They require direct feedback and are given the chance to express their feelings. They may have to take some time to process the feedback and may require help from others in order to achieve their goals.
The Eight instinctual type is less sluggish than the social/self preservation subtype. While still showing signs of self-preservation, this type is focused more on interactions with others. They are also sociable and charismatic. They are often mistaken for Sevens and can sometimes trick people through their interpersonal skills.
The Sexual Seven is a strong comedian with a strong sense for humor. While their sexuality is not unusual and normal, they don’t care about having sex, and instead are more focused on the idealized connection they envision with someone. This can be great fun however it can make intimacy seem unsafe for sevens.
Although it shares many traits with other kinds of self-pres/sexuals, it is distinct. The Seven seeks to be involved in every aspect of life, but they can become annoyed when life gets boring. It can be frustrating when others don’t like them. This subtype is also more intense and Instinctual Variant may entertain dark nihilistic ideas.
As a result Sevens can easily get too dependent on their romantic partners. They might become clingy but they do not want to lose their freedom. Sevens are extremely selfish when they are in unhealthy relationships. Their relationships are often only based on their desires.
