Binance, Coinbase Hold No. 1 in PYMNTS’ Ranking

Not much changes at the top of the heap.

The top three slots on the PYMNTS Cryptocurrency Exchange Provider Ranking continue to be Binance — far and away the world’s largest — Nasdaq-listed Coinbase and Crypto.com.

If the latter two sound more familiar than they did, maybe you’re a hoops fan, as Coinbase late last year signed a sponsorship deal with the NBA and the WNBA, as well as several of its minor leagues.

As for Crypto.com, if you’re in Los Angeles, you can’t help but hear about its stadium naming deal for what is now the Crypto.com Arena, — lately the Staples Center — where the Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Clippers and the WNBA’s Los Angeles Sparks play, as do professional hockey’s Los Angeles Kings.

Binance has been more circumspect, declining to get in on the nine-figure sponsorship deals that were signed at the height of the crypto boom in October and November, just before the price of bitcoin tumbled from nearly $70,000 to its current struggle to stay above $20,000

The Top Five

As usual, Binance and Coinbase tied for the top slot with perfect scores of 100, while Crypto.com, which bumps up and down from a three-way, top-tier tie to No. 2 from time to time — it’s currently got a 98 — nonetheless remained well ahead of Huobi and OKEx, tied for third place with 93s.

No. 4 Kucoin managed to keep its score in the 90s, pulling out a 91, while the No. 5 slot went to Blockchain.com’s Blockchain Wallet, with an 86.

The Top 10

Interestingly, there were no tie scores in the second half of the top 10, where the Winklevoss twins’ Gemini exchange pulled No. 6.

It was followed by BitPay, which saw a sharp increase, jumping eight points to a solid 80.

Then came CEX.IO, at No. 8, BitMart at No. 9 and Phemex holding the No. 10 slot.
