Letter: Unvaccinated have ripple effect

I am really tired of hearing people say getting vaccinated against COVID-19 is a personal choice. It is not! A personal choice would only affect that person and no others, for example a tetanus shot. This is certainly not the case.

Not getting the COVID shot affects many people. It’s like throwing a rock in a lake. The ripple effect goes on and on. First off, of course, is the person who gets sick. Then there are family members, friends, co-workers, people you encounter in stores, restaurants, church or club groups, entertainment events, etc. And unfortunately in most cases those wonderful people who continue working inside the overcrowded hospitals.

You say it’s because you don’t trust the current vaccines that are out there and have been given to millions of people and have proven to be effective against COVID-19. And yet people are willing to try alternative medications that are not even prescribed for human use or are not designed for use against a virus. Really? Or maybe you think because you are young and healthy that you don’t need it. At this point, I can only say I hope you change your minds.
