A tornado warning is in effect until 2 p.m. in Wilkes County. According to the National Weather Service at 1:18 p.m., a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located over Ronda, moving northwest at 25 mph with radar indicated rotation.
Locations impacted include: Ronda, Traphill, Stone Mountain State Park, Pleasant Hill, Abshers, Benham and Doughton Park.
Yadkin County EMS Director Keith Vestal said they were closely monitoring rotation in the clouds in the Buck Shoals community near the Yadkin/Wilkes county line but there was no touch down they could determine.
“We had some ominous looking clouds in the Buck Shoals area, but no major winds, nothing that touched down,” he said.
