Murder suicide investigation underway in Enon area shootings

ENON — Two Yadkin County residents are dead in what authories believe to be a domestic murder-suicide. Yadkin County deputies responded to a report of a domestic incident on Eliza Lane in the Enon Community just after 11 a.m. on Friday.

Reports indicated that shots were fired and someone had fled the scene. While responding to the incident at Eliza Lane another report came in to 911 communications reporting that there was a gunshot victim in a corn field off of Flint Hill Road near Old Highway 421.

Deputies responded to both locations and located Monti Trashawn Jarrett, age 24 , on Eliza Lane with what was determined to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound, he was pronounced dead on the scene.

Deputies on Flint Hill Road located a vehicle occupied by Kerra Shawniece Hauser, age 22, with multiple gunshot wounds. She was transported to North Carolina Baptist Hospital by Yadkin County EMS and was pronounced dead at the hospital.

At this time this case is being treated as a murder/suicide and there are no other immediate or ongoing threats to the community related to this case, the Sheriff’s Office said.
