It was a perfect May day for what organizers said was one the largest Jonesville Jubilee events since the celebration first began.

“This is what I’ve always envisioned it to be,” Town Council Member Regina Atkins said.

The Jubilee featured live music from several local bands as well as food and craft vendors. Also on site were numerous local organizations including the Arlington Fire Department and Yadkin County Sheriff’s Office.

“I’m so glad that the community can have something like this,” said Town Council Member Anita Darnell.

Event organizer Becky Wood said she was just “ecstatic” about the turnout and event overall.

“It was unbelievable. The food vendors almost sold out, the vendors all did well. People were just ecstatic about the fireworks,” Wood said.

“It was just a perfect day. The music was great, the food was great, the weather was perfect,” she said.

New playground equipment was also unveiled at the celebration and Wood said seeing the kids enjoy the new playground was also a highlight of the day.

“The new playground equipment is just the icing on the cake,” Darnell said. “The town has really worked hard to get the playground equipment here.”

Wood said she hopes this year’s successful Jubilee will be the momentum needed to keep the festival going and growing in years to come.

After a lovely day of food, music and festivities, the Jubilee concluded with a spectacular fireworks display that thrilled event-goers and nearby residents who could see the show from their backyards.
