Winston-Salem man charged with statutory rape of a child

A Winston-Salem man is facing sexual offense charges stemming from a incident initially reported late last year. The Yadkin County Sheriff’s Office said Tuesday that an outstanding warrant by the Winston-Salem Police Department was served on Demetrius Rayshawn Miller, age 31, on March 25.

The Yadkin County Sheriff’s Office received a report in reference to a sexual offense with a child on Dec. 18, 2020. According to the Sheriff’s Office, an investigation into the matter was conducted and evidence was obtained supporting the report. Subsequently, warrants were issued for Miller for one count of statutory rape of a child by an adult.

Miller was placed on a $250,000 dollar secure bond with a court appearance scheduled for June 9.
