Oakland A’s selling full season suites for Bitcoin

The Oakland Athletics are now accepting a new form of payment for suites: Bitcoin.

A’s President Dave Kaval announced Sunday that the team will sell a 2021 full season, six-person suite in exchange for one Bitcoin now through April 1.

“We invite our fans to become the first Bitcoin suite holders in sports,” said Kaval. “We’re excited to be one of a handful of teams to accept cryptocurrency for payment and the first to price tickets in crypto instead of US currency.”

One bitcoin is currently worth about $60,000.

“The price of a season suite may fluctuate depending on when it’s purchased, which adds to the excitement,” the A’s president noted.

California recently announced that ballparks and stadiums will be eligible to open with COVID-19 restrictions beginning April 1, just in time for the A’s opening day.

State health guidelines currently limit general stadium seating to pods of two or four, and suites up to six guests, officials said. All suites include six tickets, a private restroom and snacks.
