RALEIGH — Committee assignments for the 2021-2022 biennium of the North Carolina House were announced on Monday as the General Assembly returns to work this week. Representative Lee Zachary has been appointed Co-Chairman of the Judiciary III Committee.

He has also been appointed to the Committees on Alcoholic Beverage Control, Education – Community Colleges, Education – Universities, Ethics, Finance and Redistricting.

“Our upcoming session has us dealing with a lot of challenges due to the health consequences and shutdowns from COVID-19”, said Rep. Zachary. “I am intent on working with these committees to help our state deal with these challenges and overcome the negative consequences of COVID. I also look forward to continuing to implement good public policy for the citizens of North Carolina.”

“Committees in the North Carolina House are well-prepared to get to work addressing the priorities of North Carolinians after a successful decade implementing budget and policy reforms for our state,” Speaker Moore said Monday. “Through these committees, the state House will maintain our record of results that benefit families, help businesses grow, and improve state government services for our citizens.”

Committees will meet at the discretion of the committee chairs to discuss legislation that is germane to their specific policy areas. Committee members will be able to debate bills heard before the committee, propose changes to bill text, and vote on whether legislation should advance out of the committee.
