Deutsche Telekom, Orange complete test on blockchain for IPX services

Deutsche Telekom Global Carrier, the international wholesale division of Deutsche Telekom, announced that it has completed a proof of concept (POC) to improve IPX services using blockchain technology in partnership with Orange International Carriers. The project showed that blockchain technology can facilitate the exchange of end-to-end key performance indicators (KPIs) between providers.

The exchange of KPI data leads to end-to-end Quality of Service (QoS) and improves the possibility to conduct forecast and incident management. Moreover, blockchain ensures transparency as transactions are directly visible. Exchanged data are encrypted and stored for privacy.

IPX offers the basis to improve the performance of the network. It also drives roaming networks by providing the possibility to supply end-to-end Service Level Agreements (SLAs) across multiple IPX networks. Orange and Deutsche Telekom Global Carrier are expanding the pool of directly- connected mobile service providers through their IPX networks as well as through peering agreements and IPX PoP expansion. The companies are developing new IPX products with Deutsche Telekom launching Premium IPX, for example, which aims to provide end-to-end SLAs and QoS, as well as improve KPIs.
