As Coinbase continues to expand internationally, we are looking for an exceptional candidate to help build out and run our Asia-ex Japan business which will be headquartered in Singapore. The Singapore Country Manager will head up Asia-ex Japan operations, develop our go-to-market strategy for the APAC region, and take on responsibility for growth and KPIs such as revenue and monthly transacting users. What you’ll be doing (ie. job duties):
Overall responsibility for Coinbase’s Asia-ex Japan business and the Singapore office, including management of the local team, reporting into our Vice President of Business and Data, based in San Francisco. Responsible for driving growth across the Asia-ex Japan markets, with an emphasis on identifying and executing on opportunities to serve retail investors. Work closely with the US-based heads of Product (Consumer, Pro and Custody) to create products and user experiences highly-adapted to the needs of Asian clients. Drive Coinbase’s expansion strategy in the region, including evaluation and recommendation of growth options based on individual market analysis. Play a key role in supporting the PSA licence application process with the MAS, and subsequently ensuring that Coinbase Singapore operates in full compliance with applicable regulatory requirements Be the face of Coinbase in Singapore and the broader Asia-ex Japan region, including media engagements, conferences and industry forums, and in meetings with Asian clients and regulators. Partner closely with teams in London, Dublin and San Francisco to ensure smooth operation of the business and to ensure that Coinbase’s brand and values are reflected in Singapore.
What we look for in you (ie. job requirements):
At least 10 years experience serving a retail customer base in a fintech, payments, or regulated financial services context. Solid understanding of the Asia regulated payment services and financial services landscape, particularly with respect to Singapore and the MAS. Past experience in engaging with regulators and managing a business/business unit subject to regulatory oversight Fluency in English and at least one Asian language Great communication skills and the ability to work effectively in an international organisation, implementing global standards while ensuring that local requirements are met Good understanding of how the various functions of a regulated financial services business operate (e.g. Compliance, Finance, Risk, Treasury, Audit, Outsourcing) Keen interest in crypto/blockchain (expertise not a prerequisite but willingness to learn essential) Self-starter who is excited at the prospect of growing a business in a fast developing sector Pragmatic and solutions-oriented – always looking for more efficient and effective ways to do things
