4 Intriguing Statistics About Ethereum 2.0 Deposits • CryptoMode

The Ethereum 2.0 deposit contract notes an ongoing increase in transactions. Since the deposits started, some interesting statistics have come to light. They may not seem significant right now, yet they still paint an intriguing picture.

Late-hour Deposits for Ethereum 2.0

Statistics shared by Vitalik Buterin indicate a lot of people deposit ETH into the smart contract in the evening. The most prominent period is between 6 PM and 10 PM UTC. That is interesting for many different reasons. However, no explanation exists to explain this odd behavior.

It is pertinent to note there are deposits into the contract every hour of the day. The noon mark in the UTC zone is the least active of them all. Again, there is no real reason why this is the case. It does make for an intriguing observation so far. This behavior remains subject to change, as users can keep depositing for some time to come.

Ethereum 2.0 deposit Times

The Importance of Tuesday

Speaking of Ethereum 2.0 deposit behavior, there are other surprising findings. Users can deposit their Ethereum seven days per week. For some reason, the majority of deposits take place every Tuesday. It is the most popular day to partake in Ethereum 2.0 staking.

Monday is the second-most active day, whereas Thursday performs the worst every week.  These statistics pertain to the first deposit made from each address. Similar to the statistic above, this behavior remains subject to change for the foreseeable future.

Most People Deposit Just 32 ETH

Nothing prevents Ethereum users from depositing multiples of 32 ETH to increase their staking potential.  Even so, the vast majority of users deposit 32 ETH one time. Very few people explore the option of making more significant contributions at this stage. A bit surprising, as the projected staking returns are still at their highest level.

That situation will change once more people begin depositing ETH into the contract. Once 3 million ETH is active in staking, overall rewards will drop by a significant amount. As most users opt to make a single 32 ETH deposit, that threshold remains out of reach for some time to come.

Over 1 Million ETH In the Contract

The week’s big news is how there is over 1 million ETH in the Ethereum 2.0 smart contract. A significant milestone for many different reasons. During the contract launch, overall interest in partaking in the staking aspect was somewhat subdued. That has come to change spectacularly in recent weeks.

The big question is if this number will keep rising. There is no reason for the deposits to grind to a halt under the current circumstances. At the same time, it is plausible that most enthusiasts have made their contributions already. Reaching 2 million ETH in the contract can still happen. If and when that may be, cannot be predicted.
